Liquid Force Films: Skate Session with Wakeskater Aaron Reed

Posted on April 15th, 2008 by Bryan | posted in General, Media, Riders

Aaron Reed is a veteran member of the Liquid Force wakeskate team, and as such, he’s been around the industry for quite some time. There’s a reason why Aaron was one of the first wakeskaters with a pro-model, the guy kills it. And as this video from Liquid Force Films shows, it doesn’t matter if he’s on dry land or in the water, he’s got skill when it comes to manipulating a board with his feet.

Fellow Liquid Force team member Shane Bonifay, ever the comedian, also graces the video with his presence. His multiple appearences add a Where’s Waldo component to what would have otherwise been simply enjoyable skate action.

We can definitely expect much more from Mr. Reed in the future, and based on how much fun he appears to be having in the video, what he does behind the boat should only get better.

The Toe Jam Wakeskate series is back for its sophomore year, and after an impressive freshman showing, the 2008 version will have some big shoes to fill.

Fortunately Rock Star and O’Neill are on board again as sponsors, and they’ve even added a four stop in Canada. This year’s Toe Jam tour will consist of three qualifiers, each offering a $10,000 purse, and each giving contestants a chance to earn a spot in the main event, the Byerly Toe Jam Orlando, FL. A total of 16 riders will compete for the crown in the September final, with the 6 main event champs from last year earning and automatic invitation. The remaining 10 spots will be filled by the 6 division qualifiers from this year’s tour, along with 4 wild card entries.

The first event is coming up, April 17-19 at The Projects, so stay tuned for full coverage. WAKEOrigin will be bringing you all of the action this year, so even if you can’t witness the best wakeskaters in the world in person, at least you can get your fix online.

oneill_logo.gifIn the world of wakeskating, few riders are progressing the sport like Nick Taylor. Coming off his second place finish at Byerly’s Toe Jam Tour kick off stop, Nick joins a stacked team of wakeskaters at O’Neill. The signing of this young gun proves that O’Neill is committed to being one of the primary brands working hard to grow the wakeskate movement.

Nick should prove a worthy addition to the team in that regard, and we look forward to seeing what’s next for team O’Neill and Nick Taylor.

The day after its founder’s and namesake’s birthday Reed Hansen took the honors at the inagural event of Byerly’s 4th Toe Jam wakeskate tour. As the premiere wakeskating event, the Toe Jam series attracks the best wakeskaters in the world, partly for the quality of competition, and party for the relaxed and entertaining atmosphere.

Reed combined solid riding behind the Wakeboard Edition Sea-Doo and made easy work of the 10 rail obstacles on the course to best impressive riding from the likes of Brandon Thomas, Brian Grubb and suprise performer Nick Taylor. The overall level of riding in this years first stop of the Toe Jam Series proves just how quickly the level of riding is improving.

The full details of today’s final round, along with the dates of the remaining tour stops are after the jump.

It sounds like things are going well with some crazy happenings in the world of wakeskating.

FUELTV.jpg

Wakeboarding gets another shot at primetime on Fuel TV’s Insane Cinema program throughout the month of April. Sure, it’s not a major network, but anytime you can catch someone riding a wakeboard and it’s not part of some cheesy commercial, that’s a good thing for the sport.

So program your DVR if you haven’t already seen this unique film from Sean Kilgus and if you have seen it, make sure you remind all of your buddies that haven’t to check out Fuel TV this month.

Check out all of the details, along with a preview of the video after the jump.
