More Hyperlite MAREK Wakeboard Details Surface

Posted on April 17th, 2008 by Jason | posted in Gear, General, Industry Press Releases, Riders

Hyperlite Marek Wakeboard

It looks like Alliance Wake scored some new intel, in addition to what we brought you last week, on Rusty Malinoski’s new Hyperlite MAREK pro-model wakeboard. In addition to some more specs, they’ve also scooped the first look at the wakeboards official graphics, in addition to the source behind the MAREK (apparently all caps is the official way of writing it) name. Here’s the reader’s digest version of what we know so far:

  • The MAREK is a bigger board, being offered in 136cm, 141cm and 146cm sizes.
  • With a fully machined NOVA core, the MAREK will be part of the D.I.N.E. line.
  • Designed for an aggressive rider that doesn’t mind a little extra weight
  • Named after Rusty’s first-born son, Merek Jaxon Malinoski.
The Hyperlite MAREK wakeboard will be available on May 15, 2008 at your local Hyperlite dealer. For all of the technical specs and additional information on the MAREK, hit the jump.

Rusty Malinoski Hyperlite Marek Pro Model Wakeboard

Posted on April 10th, 2008 by Bryan | posted in Gear, Riders

Rusty Malinoski Hyperlite Marek Pro Model

Rusty Malinoski’s new Hyperlite pro model has to be one of the most anticipated new wakeboards the industry has ever seen. We were the first with news of the Canadian’s new board, and now that it has been over a year, it’s apparent that Rusty and Hyperlite are taking their time to perfect the finished shape.

Today we get a little encouragement that the wait is almost over though, along with some extra information about what we can expect from Hyperlite’s newest shape. In addition to the details we announced last February, we know that Rusty’s pro model will be named the Marek, and will feature Hyperlite’s new DINE technology. Hyperlite has deployed this lightweight core, which results in a lighter, more durable and lively board, on the top-of-the-line Hyperlite Sub VI and Hyperlite Murray wakeboards, proving that Rusty is a cornerstone of the Hyperlite brand.

With a release date of May 15th, we won’t have long to wait before the Marek is ready to ride, and if your style matches the aggressive nature of Rusty’s riding, you can be sure it will be to your liking.

Ronix To Release 4 Bolt Wakeboard Bindings?

Posted on April 9th, 2008 by Jason | posted in Gear, General

Ronix 4 Bolt Wakeboard Binding PatternFile this one under the completely unfounded rumor category, but it looks as though Ronix may be experimenting with a 4-bolt binding pattern for their wakeboards and wakeboard bindings.

The advantage of a 4-bolt system over the industry standard 2-bolt is a more secure mount for increased contact area between the binding and wakeboard. The result is additional responsiveness when edging, as well as added durability when it comes to pulling out board inserts.

A number of manufactures, including Slingshot and the now defunct Full-tilt, have attempted to take a 4-bolt pattern mainstream in the industry, but none have been able to gain enough traction to dethrone the standard 8″ 2-bolt pattern that dominates the industry.

Of course there are issues with a proprietary binding insert system, the biggest of which is the loss of compatibility with other brands products. With the standardized insert pattern on current wakeboards, you can use any brand board with any brand binding, which is great for wakeboarders that prefer a specific manufacturer’s binding or board.

Of course this could all be a non-issue, as we’ve seen shots of Ronix wakeboards with a new insert pattern for over two years, and nothing has come from it. You can be sure we’ll be watching for any developments, and will keep you up to date on the latest developments.

Slingshot Wakeboard Video Featuring Team Rider Jeff House

Posted on April 4th, 2008 by Jason | posted in Gear, General, Media, Riders

Slingshot has put out a great segment of video featuring team rider Jeff House tearing it up. Compared to some of the recent manufacturer distributed videos that we’ve seen recently, this clip actually has some solid riding backed up with legitimate editing. The overall effect is that it looks like a professional video, as opposed to something high schoolers make during an elective class.

Jeff House Slingshot Video

Jeff House has really proven himself of late as a versatile rider, and has added a lot of legitimacy to Slingshot’s product line. If you’ve considered riding a board with flex, check out this video for yourself, and you’ll surely be stoked on the riding dynamics of Slingshot’s wakeboards. From wake to rails, Jeff makes it all look easy, and his board performs well in every situation.

Check out the video after the jump.

Alpine Finally Announces Wired Marine Remote Products

Posted on April 3rd, 2008 by Jason | posted in Boats, Gear, General

Alpine Wired Remote Control

Alpine has long been recognized for their high quality and innovative car audio components. Even without a marine product line (which is generally a waste of money), their sound quality and iPod integration has convinced many wakeboard boat owners to choose Alpine for their source unit. By far, the single most requested accessory for Alpine stereos has been a waterproof wired remote control.

Well the wait ends now, as Alpine have finally announced a wired remote control with LCD display for their line of multimedia headunits. With complete integration to control all of Alpin’s optional source units, the MC1 Wired Remote Commander can control anything from Sirius satellite radio to your iPod touch. And thanks to a three line display, you’ll get plenty of information to make sure you’re always listening to the right tune for the moment.

You can check out the full list of features after the break, or head over to Alpine’s website to get more information or to find your nearest dealer.

Video Walk Through of WetSounds WS420 Wakeboard Boat EQ

Posted on March 31st, 2008 by Jason | posted in Boats, Gear, General

Wet Sounds has introduced one or two revolutions to the wakeboard boat audio scene. For 2008 though, they’ve got what could potentially be the biggest innovation wakeboard boat audio has seen.

WetSounds WS420 Equalizer

Click the image above to view video

It’s called the WS420, and it allows boat owners to accurately and effortlessly control the level of the speakers in the boat, as well as on the tower. It performs more technical features as well, like parametric equalization, line-voltage boost, but most people will buy it for the easy volume control, and built-in microphone for talking to riders behind the boat.

Tim from Wet Sounds was kind enough to sit down at the Consumer Electronics Show to showcase some of the features of their award winning new product, and we’ve got the full video posted after the break.
