Wakesurfing 60 foot Boat from chad Sharpe on Vimeo.

What do you get when you combine 60 feet of diesel powered yacht, 1 wave runner and 2 wakesurf boards? You get the ultimate wakesurf experience! Posted by Chad Sharpe, this video details Sharpe and some of his Ronix buddies slashing it up behind the perfect wakesurfing machine.

Prepare to be jealous of a should high wake that can be surfed both sides simultaneously. And of course you can’t stop and start a boat that big, so that’s why you have a wave runner on tow-in duty to make sure the ride lasts forever.

Check it out after the break, just realize that you’ll be disappointed the next time you go out in your v-drive with 2,000lbs. of ballast.

Zane Schwenk Honored As A Legend Of Wakeboarding

Posted on February 3rd, 2009 by Jason | posted in General, Media, Riders

Zane Schwenk CWB Mastercraft Pro Wakeboarder
Sure, his hair may have a little too much product in it for his age, maybe he did wear gloves a few years too long, and of course there’s no getting past the picture above, but you have to admit Zane Schwenk is legend in the sport of wakeboarding, and an all-around great guy.

The powers that be tend to agree, which is why they honored him with as a Legend of Wake at the 2008 Wake Awards last fall. The equivalent of a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Grammy’s, the Legend of Wake recognition highlights important people in the industry that have committed their career towards representing wakeboarding. Zane is exactly the kind of ambassador wakeboarding needs, and is a great public face for our sport.

Kevin Henshaw Sheds Some Light On Why He Likes Malibu Boats

Posted on January 30th, 2009 by Jason | posted in Boats, General, Riders

Liquid Force team rider and sponsored Malibu athlete Kevin Henshaw sat down with the camera recently for a little one-on-one time in his Wakesetter VLX. He talks about the fact that he’s been riding Malibu for years (he doesn’t remember exactly how long), and highlights a few of the key features he likes about his Malibu. There’s also some decent shots of Henshaw riding, although that’s definitely not the key focus on the video.

Apparently Malibu has produced more videos showcasing their team members on the water and in the boats, so we’ll try to dig up the others for you to enjoy.

Liquid Force Injects A Little Nike Technology Into Their Bindings

Posted on January 28th, 2009 by Jason | posted in Gear, General

2009 Liquid Force Air Limited Edition Binding

Combine the style of Shane Bonifay’s (alright, maybe Watson) with the functionality of Nike’s running shoes and you would have the ultimate wakeboard boot. Well Liquid Force has done just that with their new Limited Edition wakeboard boots for 2009.

Based on running shoe technology, the new boots feature an integrated air cushion for shock absorption. Liquid Force couldn’t just use the same design as a modern running show though, as the loss of board response would be too great. So they went through a series of designs to find the perfect combination of cushioning without sacrificing any feel.

The technology will debut in the 2009 Liquid Force Limited Edition wakeboard boots, before making its way into more Liquid Force boots next year.

We’ll post more information and official pictures when we get them, and you can head down to your local shop towards the end of March to check them out in public.

Mastercraft’s New 300 Gets Closer To Official Debut

Posted on January 28th, 2009 by Jason | posted in Boats, General

2009 Mastercraft 300

Mastercraft sent out a little update on the status of their newest model, the MC 300 and fortunately they decided to include some actual pictures to whet your appetite.

For those of you not familiar with the MC300, it’s Mastercraft’s latest move away from the hardcore wakeboard industry, and is geared towards pleasure boaters on big water that occasionally like to pull someone behind the boat. As such, this is a BIG, measuring a massive 30 feet long and 11 feet wide. And with a dry weight of 12,500 pounds, it weighs nearly three times more than their flagship wakeboard boat the X-Star.

With an enclosed cuddy cabin and an integrated “arch”, Mastercraft has proven that they can build a boat designed for buyer’s outside the wakeboard industry. Now they just have to figure out how to convince someone that doesn’t know the Mastercraft name to actually buy it.

Check out our gallery of images below, or visit the official Mastercraft 300 site to learn more.

2009 Ronix Wakeboard Boot Technology Explained

Posted on January 23rd, 2009 by Jason | posted in Events, Gear, General

2009 Ronix Wakeboard Boots

From the beginning, Ronix has done amazing things for wakeboard boots. In fact, one could even argue that they are single handedly responsible for the mainstream adoption of closed-toe wakeboard boots. Even though it’s been a short 3 years since they released their first collection of product, Ronix is upping the ante again for 2009 by completely redesigning most of their wakeboard boot technology.

Wakeside.com posted a summary of the tech included in the new Ronix kicks that we found interesting, so we thought we would summarize some of the most noteable features.

Boat Show Incentive Wrap Up: Save A Ton On Your New Boat

Posted on January 22nd, 2009 by Jason | posted in Boat Show, Boats, Events, General

With boat show season upon us, and boat sales down significantly this year due to the economy, perhaps it shouldn’t be a surprise that most manufacturers are helping dealers move boats by offering some pretty impressive incentives for boat show shoppers. From Malibu and Mastercraft on down to Supra, almost all of the major players are offering free options, cash back, or a combination of the two.

Compared to years past, where demand outpaced supply, this is definitely a different landscape for those purchasing boats, and for those that have the means, there has never been a better time to buy a new boat.

Read on for a full summary of what’s on the table if you buy a new boat during a 2009 boat show.

Company Wake Officially Announces Remote WakeSkates

Posted on January 21st, 2009 by Jason | posted in Gear, General, Industry Press Releases, Riders

Just as we suspected, Company Wake has pulled the wraps off their new wakeskate division. Also expected was the news that Silas Thurman will head things up for the new company. What we didn’t expect however is their decision to introduce a new brand, Remote Wakeskates, rather than stick with the Company name.

We’ll keep you posted on the latest on Remote Wakeskates, and you can check out the press release after the break.
