No Fear Wakeboard Gear

Did you know that No Fear has 45 privately owned retail locations throughout the Western United States? We didn’t either, but apparently West Coast teens can’t get enough of the intrepid company and their killer designs. The demand is so high in fact, that they’re even opening another location in a mall near the border between the US and Mexico.

In the coming months they hope to open a new location in Florida to hock their wares to wakeboardings finest. You can check out the full press release after the jump, if you really want to.

Byerly Toe Jam Wakeskate Tour

The Toe Jam Wakeskate series is back for its sophomore year, and after an impressive freshman showing, the 2008 version will have some big shoes to fill.

Fortunately Rock Star and O’Neill are on board again as sponsors, and they’ve even added a four stop in Canada. This year’s Toe Jam tour will consist of three qualifiers, each offering a $10,000 purse, and each giving contestants a chance to earn a spot in the main event, the Byerly Toe Jam Orlando, FL. A total of 16 riders will compete for the crown in the September final, with the 6 main event champs from last year earning and automatic invitation. The remaining 10 spots will be filled by the 6 division qualifiers from this year’s tour, along with 4 wild card entries.

The first event is coming up, April 17-19 at The Projects, so stay tuned for full coverage. WAKEOrigin will be bringing you all of the action this year, so even if you can’t witness the best wakeskaters in the world in person, at least you can get your fix online.

San Diego Rail Jam Showcase Coming Next Week

Posted on March 20th, 2008 by Jason | posted in Events, General, Industry Press Releases, Riders

Erik Ruck Rail JamFollowing up on the success of last year’s event, WakeSports Unlimited is hosting the second annual San Diego rail jam at the Del Mar boat show.

With a host of riders, including Danny Harf, Shane Bonifay, Kevin Henshaw and Collin Harrington competing in the warm So Cal weather, it should be a great early spring event. And if the level of riding at the 2007 event is any indication, we can only hope to see a number of “firsts” this year. The event is scheduled for March 26-30, and will take place at the Fred Hall Fishing, Tackle and Boat Show. This is a great chance to see some of the best riders in the world in person, which doesn’t often happen that far down in California. If you’re in the San Diego area, head over and check out the event in person.

Correct Craft Redesigns Nautique Website

Correct Craft Launches New Website

Correct Craft pulled the wraps off their new website recently, and the response from the wakeboard industry has been positive

Red Rocket Studios was responsible for the overhaul, which relies almost entirely on Flash (unfortunately). But the flash isn’t too obtrusive, and page loading time is fairly quick. In addition to the new layout is a powerful new boat building tool, which allows users to configure the Nautique of your dreams with all of the new decals, options and extras for 2008.

If you’re shopping for a new boat (or even if you’re not), take a spin through the new Nautiques website and let us know what you think in the comments.

Oakley Logo

If you haven’t seen Push Process, the video from acclaimed director Justin Stephens that highlights Oakley team riders, you definitely need to get a copy. It was without a doubt one of the best films of last year, and coming from a brand like Oakley, it definitely made a statement about the direction they plan on taking their wakeboard team.

Oakley has again stepped up their commitment to the wake industry by adding Nick Taylor to their team, and extending their contracts with George Daniels and Danny Hampson. As more main-stream brands, like Oakley, get involved with the wake industry hopefully awareness will continue to build, which will bring more popularity to the sport we love.

Cobian Sandals Steps Up Their Wake Team

Cobian Sandals

Cobian Sandals has upped their wake team with the addition of five well known riders. To their already established, if not minimal team, Cobian has added Mike Schwenne, Erik Lutgert, Austin Hair, Nick Jones and Alex Brown. That completes the team with established riders like Erik Lutgert, wakeskaters Austin Hair as well as those that are up and coming like Nick Jones.

Cobian is commited to making a big impression on the wake industry, and their latest round of additions to their pro team proves it. Does having an impressive team of wakeboarders really increase sales for a sandal manufacturer? Let us know what you think in the comments?

Malibu Announces the Return of the Corvette Limited Edition

Posted on October 2nd, 2007 by Jason | posted in Boats, General, Industry Press Releases

Malibu Corvette Limited EditionMalibu announced today that GM has chosen them as a partner yet again to bring the iconic Corvette back to the water. This marks the second time Malibu and GM have teamed up to bring America’s best known sports car to the water.

The last generation Corvette boat was initially introduced in 1997 and was produced through 2001. Based on the Echelon direct drive hull, the original Corvette was a direct drive boat showing just how much things have changed in the last decade. First model year boats featured a custom built 425HP Callaway Supernatural engine. That hand built mill pushed the Corvette to over 65MPH in ideal conditions, but because it was hand built and extremely expensive, it was discontinued after the first year. Later models featured 375HP marinized GM LS1s that proved much more reliable, and nearly matched the blistering pace of the Supernatural powered boats.

Malibu Corvette Limited Edition

There is much speculation about what the new Corvette will look like, but according to Malibu, it will be based off of a v-drive platform to increase appeal and desirability. Based on the C6 version of the Corvette, the new model will have an authentic LS7 engine available as part of the Z06 package. As the exact same engine offered in the Z06 ‘Vette, this 7.0L engine will feature a full 505HP, which should be more than enough power to provide plenty of entertainment on the water.

Malibu promises more details in the next month, so stay tuned as we get closer to seeing what the latest Corvette Limited Edition watersport boat from Malibu will look like.

Rumor Confirmation: The Corvette boat is coming back!

Malibu’s New Multiplexed Graphical Display Switches

Posted on July 2nd, 2007 by Jason | posted in Boats, General, Industry Press Releases

2008 Malibu Boats Product DetailsThe name may be a bit complicated, but Malibu’s new LCD control panels aim to simplify the use of all of the primary and secondary accessories and features on 2008 Malibu models. By completely replacing the physical rocker switches used in past Malibu’s with large, easy to read LCD panels, Malibu has created a control system that can adapt depending on what features you’re adjusting.

The new switches make use of physical buttons across the bottom of the each large LCD display panel to allow for finger-tip adjustement without taking your eyes off the water. The new switch plates are also integrated with the new Malibu/Rockford Fosgate stereo, which eliminates the additional Sony remote that has been installed at the dash. It’s now possible to adjust the stereo without reaching for the headunit, and without removing your attention from the water ahead.
