Slingshot Wakeboard Video Featuring Team Rider Jeff House

Posted on April 4th, 2008 by Jason | posted in Gear, General, Media, Riders

Slingshot has put out a great segment of video featuring team rider Jeff House tearing it up. Compared to some of the recent manufacturer distributed videos that we’ve seen recently, this clip actually has some solid riding backed up with legitimate editing. The overall effect is that it looks like a professional video, as opposed to something high schoolers make during an elective class.

Jeff House Slingshot Video

Jeff House has really proven himself of late as a versatile rider, and has added a lot of legitimacy to Slingshot’s product line. If you’ve considered riding a board with flex, check out this video for yourself, and you’ll surely be stoked on the riding dynamics of Slingshot’s wakeboards. From wake to rails, Jeff makes it all look easy, and his board performs well in every situation.

Yeah, that’s what we thought, which is what makes this week’s WakePics Wednesday even more impressive.

Even though it’s a few years old, the footage in this video is still VERY impressive. So check it out after the jump, and then head over to WakePics.com to view more media from fellow wakeboarders.

“Drive” started off in Seattle, with the likes of Benny Greenwood, Jeff McKee, and Randall Harris setting off on Lake Washington. Then the teaser did just that…teased us fans of wake just enough. That was followed up by some coverage in the magazines. DRIVE continues to wet the palate with glimpses of the video popping up all over.

Shawn Watson Learns a Valuable Less Unrelated to Wakeboarding

Posted on March 25th, 2008 by Jason | posted in General, Media, Riders

We all know how important it is to have custom wheels on your truck now-a-days. I mean seriously, you’re nobody if you’re still rocking stock wheels. Of course I’m sure Shawn Watson would rather have stock wheels than no wheels at all.

Shawn Watson’s Stolen WheelsPhoto Courtesy of The Standerd

This pictures of Shawn’s newly customized truck originally appeared in Book 1.2 of The Standerd, Meddock and Letchworth recently posted it on their site along with some commentary from Shawn himself:

And this is the second time it’s happened. I’m now on my third set of wheels, haha…

The first time it happened my truck was actually stolen and recovered down the street on blocks like you see here. The “before” photo was taken a while ago just after I got my second set of wheels, and after the first incident I always keep my truck in the garage overnight. Well as you can see in the “after” pic, my boat is still attached to my truck. I flew in late one night, picked up my boat from the Nautique factory and drove home. I didn’t get home until about 1am and was planning on getting up at 7 am to drop my boat in and do a photo shoot that next morning.

So I wake up and walk out my front door to this. All I could really do was laugh because what are the odds of that happening to me again. So now I have really learned my lesson and no matter what circumstance it is my truck is in the garage at all times, haha!

At least he’s able to laugh about, because honestly, what else can you do when the damage has already been done?

Sanger Introduces 360° Tour of V237 Wakeboard Boat

Posted on March 24th, 2008 by Spencer | posted in Boats, General, Media

Sanger V237 Tour

Sanger has worked hard ove the last three years to not only improve the performance of their boats, but also polish their marketing efforts to better showcase their wakeboard boats.

The latest result of that increased effort is a new 360 tour of the new flasgship V237 wakeboard boat. So far Sanger is the only company to use this kind of technology to make it easier to experience a boat over the internet. Although the rendering does distort the view slightly, it’s still easier to get a feel for what the boat is like than a couple of pictures, which is all that most manufacturers are offering.

Maybe it’s expected that if you’re seriously shopping for a boat you’ll got look at it in person, but with the richness of media on many websites today, it’s nice to see Sanger making an effort to get people in the boat from the comfort of their own homes.

Head over to the Sanger Boats website and check it out for yourself.

What do you think, should more manufacturers adopt this kind of “tour” so wakeboarders can check out their boats online?

Footage Released of Rusty Wakeboard Documentary Film

Posted on March 24th, 2008 by Jason | posted in General, Media, Riders

Rusty MaloniskiClick on above image to view video

Few wakeboarders are as deserving of a feature documentary as Rusty Malinoski. From an undiscovered Canadian rider, to an up-and-comer struggling to get a ride with a major manufacturer, Rusty has remained focused and dedicated to his cause.

Of course we all know the result of his determination; the run he’s been on for the last 18 months has been nothing short of incredible. From his careful training regimine to his committed work ethic that has resulted in a string of 1080s and a new pro-model from Hyperlite, Rusty is a great reminder of what is possible with dedication.

TheLiquidCircuis.com has what appears to be the first clip of a new documentary that seeks to showcase the hard work Rusty puts into every day as a professional wakeboarder. From the small sample of video, we can also see that the filmmakers have also chosen to include Rusty’s group of close friends and fellow wakeboarders, including Danny Harf, in the movie. I think it’s safe to say that Danny and Rusty are really pushing eachother right now, as evidenced by shared success when spinning three times. Hopefully the documentary will provide some insight into how they each benefit from a competitive friendship like theirs.

Unfortunately no release information is given, so we’ll just have to sit tight until the full film is done.

Check out the preview of Rusty Malinoski’s wakeboard documentary after the jump.
