Over 10 years in the making, Wakestock has exploded in tandem with the youth-driven action sports lifestyle movement to become one of the leading global festivals of its kind. A unique, progressive blend of sports, music and parties, or as Wakestock enthusiasts like to say: “four days of boarding, bands and bikinis!”
Powered by the core sensibilities of the leading summertime action sports in Canada: wakeboarding, skateboarding and freestyle moto-x, Wakestock is not only a showcase of the best athletes, but also a celebration of the lifestyle that these sports exude through music, fashion and fun. In simple terms, the best excuse for a party ever conceived!
“It’s like the best of the X-Games, Warped Tour and Florida Spring Break all rolled into one action-packed four day festival”, says Wakestock co-founder Steve Jarrett of SBC Media Magazine Group. In an age where the X-Games have eclipsed the Olympics in relevancy for the under 30 generation, it’s easy to understand the underlying appeal of Wakestock.
In the world of wakeboarding, Wakestock stands alone as the largest and most progressive event on the planet with a pioneering history of innovative firsts. The anchor event of the WWA (World Wakeboard Association) World Series, Wakestock is the only wakeboarding championship that features dedicated pro events showcasing the sport’s four diverse styles: Expression Session; Rail Riding; Wakeskating; and Pool Riding. Wakestock is also Canada’s largest amateur wakeboarding championship, and the only event in the world where an amateur rookie has a shot at qualifying to compete against the superstars of the sport.
Just in case the non-stop action of world class wakeboarding isn’t enough to wet your appetite for high adrenaline spectating, Wakestock also features the country’s biggest freestyle moto-x exhibition; plus a custom-built skatepark delivering top pro demos and one of Canada’s biggest am skate contests: “Island Of The Ams”. Don’t forget to bring your skateboard because in between demos and contests you can skate the park!
Wakestock has grown into one of Canada’s foremost outdoor music festivals featuring 20+ bands over 3 days. Music is an integral part of the Wakestock experience as featured annually on Much Music tv and 102.1 the Edge radio. Both broadcasters will be at Wakestock again this year to capture the performance highlights of the biggest artists, including Metric, GZA and RZA of Wu Tang Clan, Hot Water Music, Silverstein, and Cavelera Conspiracy on the TELUS main stage presented by Monster Energy.
The Wakestock excitement doesn’t end with sports and music. Wakestock features Canada’s largest expo of surf and skate fashion, and wakeboarding and action sports gear, offering the best deals of the summer from Canada’s leading retailers, pro rider autographs, and a variety of free product samples. Then there’s the Bud Light Wakestock Bikini Contest and the Bud Light Wakestock After-Parties for three nights straight! Welcome to the 11th annual Wakestock!
It all takes place July 24th through 27th at the sun-soaked Centre Island, Toronto Island Park, a 10 minute ferry ride from downtown Toronto. Extra ferries to Centre Island will run throughout the entire event. A Festival 4 Day Pass is $62.50 and can be purchased at any Ticketmaster location.
