With boat show season upon us, and boat sales down significantly this year due to the economy, perhaps it shouldn’t be a surprise that most manufacturers are helping dealers move boats by offering some pretty impressive incentives for boat show shoppers. From Malibu and Mastercraft on down to Supra, almost all of the major players are offering free options, cash back, or a combination of the two.
Compared to years past, where demand outpaced supply, this is definitely a different landscape for those purchasing boats, and for those that have the means, there has never been a better time to buy a new boat.
Read on for a full summary of what’s on the table if you buy a new boat during a 2009 boat show.
Malibu is billing their boat show discounts as “The Big Air! Big Screen! Big Savings!”. Basically what it amounts to is that purchasing a new boat before March 31, 2009 will earn you the choice between a free Power Wedge or a free Maliview upgrade AND free standard service for three years.
Pros: Free stuff (worth $2,100) is always a good thing. Free service is even better.
Cons: Savings may not seem as appealing on the surface, as the total value (free service for 3 years) isn’t immediately known.
Mastercraft’s boat show promotion is definitely an attention getter; the idea of getting a check for $25,000 should appeal to anyone. Unfortunately they’re vague on the details, so the specifics of the deal are something you’ll have to workout with your dealer in person. We’re guessing the cash back amount is applied to the full MSRP value of the boat though, which means it may not actually be that great of a deal.
Pros: $25,000 is always a good thing
Cons: Lots of unknowns, if it seems too good to be true…
Supra and Moomba are running the same promotion, offering new buyers up to $3,600 in savings by combining some of the most popular options into one $495 package.
Pros: Save some cash on options you probably would have ordered anyway.
Cons: Save some cash on options you probably would have ordered anyway.
