At the beginning of June we brought you the first unofficial pictures of 2009 Malibu Wakesetter VLX. Now Malibu has released a few shots of the completely new model on the water, and we have to say, it’s a hansom looking update.
Based on the brief preview we posted early, the 2009 Wakesetter VLX looks pretty much like we thought it would. This latest round of pictures of the boat in it’s natural setting do a much better job of showcasing the lines of the new boat.
The new boat is much deeper, which should make it even better for surfing, and safer if you’ve got younger passengers. The increase in freeboard is clearly visible in the 3/4 shot of the rear of the boat. Taking a cue from the Waksetter 23 LSV, the VLX now features a molded in seat/step at the transom, which is definitely a welcome addition now that it’s riding so much higher in the water.
The molded-in recesses found on either side of the boat are a unique touch reminiscent of the Corvette Limited Edition, but not quite as attention getting. It’s actually nice touch that we think gives the flanks of the boat some dimension without being too stylized. Expect to see this design ethos trickle down through the rest of the Malibu line-up as other models are refreshed in future model years.
Malibu’s line of 2009 Model year boats should be trickling into dealer in the next week, so expect to see more coverage and reviews of next year’s boats on WakeORIGIN in the very near future. In the meantime, we’re going to turn it over to you, our readers? What do you think of the 2009 Wakesetter VLX?
