With all of Malibu’s dealers on hand, the stage was set, and Malibu didn’t disappoint. The newest Corvette Limited Edition Sport-V features plenty of styling influences from the C6 Corvette, along with a few unique Malibu touches.

As a follow-up to a partnership in the late 1990’s that was responsible for the original Corvette ski boat, Malibu and GM have teamed up again to produce an updated version of the Corvette for the water. In stark contrast to the original limited edition that was based on the direct-drive Echelon, the new model is a v-drive, featuring a new hull that is not shared with any other model.
Complete with authentic Corvette bucket seats, steering wheel and throttle knob, this new model features incredible attention to detail. Where the engine would be in the street car there is a water-tight trunk with a forward hinging hood for storage and housing the stereo gear. The dash makes use of Malibu’s new LCD switch panels, along with a coded ignition system in place of the traditional key found in other Malibu models.
Perhaps most important detail, at least in the optional Z06 model, is the 7.0L LS9 V8 lifted directly out of the road-going Z06 ‘Vette. Although there are some minor modifications for marine use, the basic engine stays the same, including the dry-sump lubrication system, and the 505 horsepower on tap. With the right prop, and the Corvette’s unique hull design, that should make for some impressive performance statistics.
