Did You Wakeboard Less This Summer Because Of High Gas Prices?

Going into the summer there was a lot of discussion surrounding how (relatively) high gas prices would impact the boating industry. Clearly they’ve had an impact on what type of vehicles American’s are purchasing, but I’m not sure the higher cost of fuel actually kept many wakeboarders off of the water.

Now that the end of the season is near, how much were you on the water this summer? Probably less than you wanted to be, but was that actually because of the price of gas? If you put 100 hours on your boat this summer, that’s around 600 gallons of gas consumed. If the average price of a gallon of gas went up $1.50 from last summer, that’s another $900 spent to use your boat. Is that enough to keep people off the water, or do most wakeboarders figure it’s worth it?
