Correct Craft has pulled the wraps off their new updated website for next year, which features their line of 2009 Nautique boats. The overall layout of the site is the same as last year’s version, with minor updates to accommodate new options for exploring each boat, and the technology and features that make them special.

The biggest changes to the 2009 model line include the brand new 216V crossover and the strangely styled Flight Control Tower 3. Designed for multi-sport performance, the 216V features plenty of space in it’s 21′ 6″ chassis, along with built-in ballast for wakeboarding performance. Unfortunately it also features the same disjointed, segmented and confusing interior that all of Nautique’s new models have showcased lately.

Correct Craft and their longtime power partner, Pleasurecraft Marine Engines, have teamed up to bring catalyzed marine engines to the Nautique line for 2008. Although their claims of a “green” marine engine seem slightly contradictory to us, there’s no denying that the current crop of catalyzed marine engines are much better for the environment than their predecessors. Like Indmar’s ETX/CAT introduced last year, PCM’s new Catanium system combines the exhaust manifold with a solid-state catalyst that promotes the combustion of harmful components in the engines exhaust. These systems are very similar to those that have been installed in our cars for the last 20 years, with the necessary advancements to be used in the marine setting.

In addition to the cleaner emissions, PCM’s new line of Catanium equipped engines also features better fuel economy and enhanced power thanks to the more advanced engine control modules required by the exhaust catalyst system. Overall, it’s a win-win for everyone, the water we like to play in will be a little cleaner, and we’ll save money by using less gas while wakeboarding.

One of our contacts in the industry recently contacted us to share some news about an ownership change at Correct Craft. The details are still thin, and of course nothing has been confirmed, but here’s what we believe to be true:

The Meloon family had held the controlling stake in Correct Craft since its inception, making it the oldest family owned boat manufacturer in the world. In preparation for retirement, the eldest Meloon has sold his share of the company business, reducing the family’s share in the company to less than 50%.

The new majority owner has not been made public, but apparently it is an individual, and not a a group of owners or a private equity firm as we’ve seen with Malibu and Mastercraft lately. The fact of the matter is, with litigation continually influencing more and more of the decisions that are made in America, estate planning is a very real concern for all privately held companies once they reach a certain size. We can only assume, that as was the case with Malibu, this transition is to better address those legal issues.

Here’s to hoping the new relationship will be a fruitful one for Correct Craft and all parties involved. We’ll keep you updated as we learn more.

Correct Craft pulled the wraps off their new website recently, and the response from the wakeboard industry has been positive

Red Rocket Studios was responsible for the overhaul, which relies almost entirely on Flash (unfortunately). But the flash isn’t too obtrusive, and page loading time is fairly quick. In addition to the new layout is a powerful new boat building tool, which allows users to configure the Nautique of your dreams with all of the new decals, options and extras for 2008.
