From the beginning, Ronix has done amazing things for wakeboard boots. In fact, one could even argue that they are single handedly responsible for the mainstream adoption of closed-toe wakeboard boots. Even though it's been a short 3 years since they released their first collection of product, Ronix is upping the ante again for 2009 by completely redesigning most of their wakeboard boot technology. There's a reason you've probably never heard of Megan Ethell; she's only 11 years old. Just because she can't drive legally, isn't even in middle school yet, and her Ronix Krush Wakeboard is almost as tall as she is, doesn't mean she can't rip on a wakeboard. Congratulations Danny Harf, On Landing The First 1260 In History

Danny Harf, the wonder boy from team Ronix has added another industry first to his long list of accomplishments; this time becoming the first rider ever to land a 1260. Armed with a monster wake and his Ronix DHV1 Wakeboard, Harf added another 180 degrees of rotation, for a full 3 and half spins. In what was perhaps the best kept wakeboarding secret of all-time, Harf swore everyone that witnessed his historic move to secrecy to ensure no one would spill the beans before the Best of Wake Awards Ceremony this past weekend. The result of the successful ninja mission was a mind blowing unveiling that had more than a few riders (especially Rusty Malinoski, who believed he had the award cinched) visibly upset. Of course once the shock wore off, they were just as excited as Danny, showing how close the riders at the top are, even when pushing each other to land new moves. Congratulations Danny, enjoy being the first rider in history to land a 1260; although someone will inevitably land a 1340, no one can take that away from you! Ronix Teams Up With LA Gear For Limited Edition Wakeboards

You remember LA Gear right? They made those shoes all the cool kids wore that had lights in the heel that flashed whenever you took a step? Now you can have your chance at revenge and prove to everyone you're not the dork you were in grade school. Ronix has released two new boards the DHV1 and CSV1 based on the familiar One and Covin series wakeboards, respectively. And while they didn't actually work with LA Gear on these new wakeboards, Ronix has incorporated a piezo-electric diode that lights up when you hit the wake hard enough. The new boards feature the same shape as the signature lines they're based on, but make use of a high end "Italian Dark Core" for a lighter and stiffer board. If you currently ride a Ronix One or Covin wakeboard, but wish it weighed just a little less and had more pop, these may be just what you've been waiting for. Ronix To Release 4 Bolt Wakeboard Bindings?

File this one under the completely unfounded rumor category, but it looks as though Ronix may be experimenting with a 4-bolt binding pattern for their wakeboards and wakeboard bindings. The advantage of a 4-bolt system over the industry standard 2-bolt is a more secure mount for increased contact area between the binding and wakeboard. The result is additional responsiveness when edging, as well as added durability when it comes to pulling out board inserts. A number of manufactures, including Slingshot and the now defunct Full-tilt, have attempted to take a 4-bolt pattern mainstream in the industry, but none have been able to gain enough traction to dethrone the standard 8" 2-bolt pattern that dominates the industry. Of course there are issues with a proprietary binding insert system, the biggest of which is the loss of compatibility with other brands products. With the standardized insert pattern on current wakeboards, you can use any brand board with any brand binding, which is great for wakeboarders that prefer a specific manufacturer's binding or board. Of course this could all be a non-issue, as we've seen shots of Ronix wakeboards with a new insert pattern for over two years, and nothing has come from it. Ronix Q&A With Team Wakeskater Reed Hansen

To mark the one year anniversary of Reed Hansen signing on with Ronix to head up their wakeskate division, the group over at Square One Distribution decided to sit down with younger Hansen to pick his brain about the success of their partnership. Most of the interview is focused on Ronix's first bi-level skate, the Zariel series, but there are of course the obligatory meaningless questions and associated responses that come out of left field. It's not a hard hitting introspective into the challenges a 20-something wakeskater faces, but if you're into wakeboarding and wakeskating, chances are you'll enjoy reading it just the same. Yeah, neither had we, but you should check it out. In reality the main purpose is probably just as a marketing tool for Ronix, but it still has some original thoughts from the author, as well as some great pictures taken while Chad is out and about shooting with his buddies.

It's pretty cool to get updates directly from someone as influential as Chad, especially when he's got guys like Danny Harf, Erik Ruck and Jeff McKee, among others stopping for for an impromptu set. Filming “DRIVE” in Arizona
