Spin a Ten and Win At The 2008 Tigé Pro-Am

The 2008 Tige Pro-Am is just around the corner, and Tigé is upping the ante in an effort to draw some more attention to the inaugural event. With the number of riders that have landed a 1080 in practice closing in on a half a dozen, Tigé has put $10,080 on the line for the first rider to land three spins at the Tigé Pro-Am. The potential for a five digit payday for an amateur rider that can pull of The Ten is huge. Sure, the likelihood that a local rider will land the elusive 1080 is small. It's much more realistic to expect a Danny Harf or Rusty Malinoski to walk away with the big check, but even then, that's quite a bonus for an afternoon of work. If you're in the Pacific Northwest, make plans to check out the Tigé Pro-Am at Blue Lake Park in Portland Oregon. It's a great venue that was cut from the pro wakeboard tour this season for no apparent reason, and is a great place to watch a wakeboarding event. Check out the full press release after the break.

It's no secret that Rusty Malinoski's new Hyperlite MAREK pro-model is getting a lot of attention right now. It's definitely the most anticipated wakeboard of 2008, and with the world release coming up on May 15th, wakeboarders won't have long to wait until they can ride the MAREK themselves. More Hyperlite MAREK Wakeboard Details Surface

It looks like Alliance Wake scored some new intel, in addition to what we brought you last week, on Rusty Malinoski's new Hyperlite MAREK pro-model wakeboard. In addition to some more specs, they've also scooped the first look at the wakeboards official graphics, in addition to the source behind the MAREK (apparently all caps is the official way of writing it) name. Here's the reader's digest version of what we know so far:

The MAREK is a bigger board, being offered in 136cm, 141cm and 146cm sizes.
With a fully machined NOVA core, the MAREK will be part of the D.I.N.E. line.
Designed for an aggressive rider that doesn't mind a little extra weight
Named after Rusty's first-born son, Merek Jaxon Malinoski.

Rusty Malinoski's new Hyperlite pro model has to be one of the most anticipated new wakeboards the industry has ever seen. We were the first with news of the Canadian's new board, and now that it has been over a year, it's apparent that Rusty and Hyperlite are taking their time to perfect the finished shape. Today we get a little encouragement that the wait is almost over though, along with some extra information about what we can expect from Hyperlite's newest shape. In addition to the details we announced last February, we know that Rusty's pro model will be named the Marek, and will feature Hyperlite's new DINE technology. Hyperlite has deployed this lightweight core, which results in a lighter, more durable and lively board, on the top-of-the-line Hyperlite Sub VI and Hyperlite Murray wakeboards, proving that Rusty is a cornerstone of the Hyperlite brand. With a release date of May 15th, we won't have long to wait before the Marek is ready to ride, and if your style matches the aggressive nature of Rusty's riding, you can be sure it will be to your liking.

Rusty Malinoski Pro-Model Customized Design Boat Wrap

System AVD Inc., a Seattle-based design company, has announced the release of the Rusty Malinoski Pro-Model design boat wrap. In addition, Rusty becomes the first athlete System AVD will sponsor. The custom designed boat wrap, which matches the design of Malinoski’s personal MasterCraft X-Star, will be available in 2008 at MasterCraft dealers world-wide, including installation services in the United States and Canada. Footage Released of Rusty Wakeboard Documentary Film

Few wakeboarders are as deserving of a feature documentary as Rusty Malinoski. From an undiscovered Canadian rider, to an up-and-comer struggling to get a ride with a major manufacturer, Rusty has remained focused and dedicated to his cause. Of course we all know the result of his determination; the run he's been on for the last 18 months has been nothing short of incredible. From his careful training regimine to his committed work ethic that has resulted in a string of 1080s and a new pro-model from Hyperlite, Rusty is a great reminder of what is possible with dedication. TheLiquidCircuis.com has what appears to be the first clip of a new documentary that seeks to showcase the hard work Rusty puts into every day as a professional wakeboarder. From the small sample of video, we can also see that the filmmakers have also chosen to include Rusty's group of close friends and fellow wakeboarders, including Danny Harf, in the movie. I think it's safe to say that Danny and Rusty are really pushing eachother right now, as evidenced by shared success when spinning three times. Hopefully the documentary will provide some insight into how they each benefit from a competitive friendship like theirs. Team Hyperlite Descends on Lake Shasta

The Hyperlite wakeboard team gathered in Northern California recently to relax, recharge, and to take advantage of the incredible late season conditions Lake Shasta is known for. Fortunately for us they also brought along a video camera to capture some of the best free-riding we've seen. As an added bonus, there are some good shots of the 2008 gear, as the official purpose of the trip was to shoot video and images for the 2008 Hyperlite catalog. As the season here in the Northwest starts to wrap-up, this video makes us wish we had a Shasta trip planned sometime in the near future to extend the season just a little bit longer. Hyperlite has put together a great team, and if they have plans to release more videos from team trips in the future we're all for that. Check out the video after the jump.
