Byerly Toe Jam Wakeskate Tour

The Toe Jam Wakeskate series is back for its sophomore year, and after an impressive freshman showing, the 2008 version will have some big shoes to fill.

Fortunately Rock Star and O’Neill are on board again as sponsors, and they’ve even added a four stop in Canada. This year’s Toe Jam tour will consist of three qualifiers, each offering a $10,000 purse, and each giving contestants a chance to earn a spot in the main event, the Byerly Toe Jam Orlando, FL. A total of 16 riders will compete for the crown in the September final, with the 6 main event champs from last year earning and automatic invitation. The remaining 10 spots will be filled by the 6 division qualifiers from this year’s tour, along with 4 wild card entries.

The first event is coming up, April 17-19 at The Projects, so stay tuned for full coverage. WAKEOrigin will be bringing you all of the action this year, so even if you can’t witness the best wakeskaters in the world in person, at least you can get your fix online.

Byerly Toe Jam Comes to Texas This Weekend

Posted on June 8th, 2007 by Jason | posted in Events, General, Riders

Byerly Toe Jam Wakeskate TourStop two of the Byerly Toe Jam wakeskate tour should prove just as eventful as the first stop. The second installment of this years tour will take place at Texas Ski Ranch located in New Braunfels, TX. The setup at TSR includes a cable park that will host the slider course, as well as a private lake where competitors will ride behind a Mastercraft X-Star to battle it out on the wakes.

Qualifying took place yesterday, and despite strong winds, the level of riding was still impressive with Nick Taylor pulling a backside 3 off the kicker, and George Daniels hitting a boardslide kickflip off the incline rail. Today is the bonus wake session behind the X-Star, and should prove just as impressive. Saturday is the main even though, with much at stake. The top three riders from the finals will advance to the Toe Jam main event in September at The Projects. The finals kick off at 9am, and will run until a winner is found. If you’re in the area, head over to Texas Ski Ranch to witness the best wakeskaters in the world battling it out. If you can’t make it out this weekend, don’t worry, WAKEOrigin will bring you the results of each round of competition.

The full list of qualifying riders is posted after the jump.

What better way to launch a new publication dedicated to the heart of wakeboarding than with a full featured story on one of the most important riders in the history of our sport, Scott Byerly? Josh Letchworth and Joey Meddock couldn’t think of anything, and that’s why issue 1.1 of The Standerd features an eight page spread on the god father of wakeboarding.

The Standerd is a new publication dedicated to showing the artistic side of wakeboarding, without the bureaucracy that has enveloped the traditional publications. If you’re a wakeboarder, you owe it to yourself to get a subscription. The image quality alone with worth it, and the quality is so high Meddock and Letchworth have taken to calling it “a book”. This is definitely something you would could sport on the coffee table without being embarassed, even if your guests aren’t wakeboarders.
